slider crank mechanism

Course: Foundations of Product Realization

Assignment: Design and build an interactive display of a mechanism. Selecting from a list of six mechanisms, students were required to pay close attention to detail in order to create a smooth 3D physical execution.   

For my final design, I made a sliding crank mechanism using a combination of hardware and laser-cut acrylic and basswood. The final piece consisted of three shoulder screws, three bearings, two threaded inserts, and an acorn nut along with laser-cut pieces of painted basswood and clear acrylic.
